2024 WCDP Selectors Convention

2024 WCDP Selectors Convention

County Selectors Convention throughout the state will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the UAW Region 8 Headquarters at 151 Maddox-Simpson Parkway, Lebanon, TN 37090, to name Selectors to attend the Congressional District Conventions on Saturday, April 6. Those named Selectors will vote for the Congressional District Level Delegates to attend the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Aug. 19-22, 2024.

The WCDP convention will start at Noon (CST), with doors opening at 11 a.m. The location will be announced soon.

Important Information

How many Selectors will be chosen in Wilson County?

Wilson County is split by two Congressional Districts, 5 and 6. The number of selectors assigned to each congressional district was based on population and Democratic vote share at the precinct level. In Wilson County, Congressional District 5 has 36 slots, while District 6 has 10.

To ensure that the County Selectors being sent to the Congressional District Conventions are
equally divided between men and women (determined by gender self-identification), County
Selector positions are apportioned as follows by gender. These gendered apportionments
represent a maximum number, not a requirement. In no case shall the apportionment of selector
positions by gender be used to prevent gender non-binary individuals from seeking or attaining
positions as County Selectors.

When a gender non-binary individual is chosen to fill a County Selector position, the maximum number of binary gendered positions is reduced by one to compensate, maintaining the same total number of selectors. Reductions in the maximum number of binary gendered positions will alternate, maintaining as equal a number of each binary gender as mathematically possible.

Who is eligible to participate in the Selectors Convention?

Participation in the County Selectors Convention is open to all bona fide Democratic voters in the County who sign a pledge of support for the Democratic Party Nominee.
The TNDP will provide the Official Credential and Pledge of Support form for us to post online prior to the convention, and it will be available the day of the convention. The pledge of support contains a declaration that includes the following:
● The participant is a registered voter in the convention county (unless not yet 18 on March
5, 2024, but will be 18 for the Nov presidential election.)
● Is a supporter of the Democratic Party
● Has voted in the Tennessee Democratic Presidential Primary on Election Day, March 5, or during early voting Feb 14-27 (unless not yet 18 on March 5, 2024, but will be 18 for the Nov
presidential election.)
● Will support the nominee of the Democratic Party in the 2024 Presidential election.

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend.

On Monday, October 10th, the school board will discuss a policy change to decide whom is able to request book bans. To date, only one of the request have come from a parent in WCS, others have no personal ties to our schools and all have ties to the local moms For Liberty chapter.
