By-Laws
The mission of the By-Laws Committee of the Wilson County Democratic Party is to act as a guardian of the internal rules and procedures that govern how the Party operates, and ensure it remains faithful to the values and purpose enshrined within said by-laws.
Communications
The mission of the Communications Committee is to utilize data to build strategic communications and messaging plans that earn results and reach our intended audiences (Democratic voters and moderates) for the Wilson County Democratic Party. We do this by leveraging both earned and paid media including traditional and new outlets. Our team is sharp and up-to-date on relevant and current legislation and trends. Our team is talented and able to learn new technologies that make us efficient. Our team works across committees to achieve success.
Our team’s skills include writing, graphic design, video editing, ad buying, and more.
A few of the specific jobs volunteers might help with include generating content for social media, writing letters to the editor for local publications, preparing WCDP emails, keeping the website up-to-date, and preparing press releases about WCDP activities.
Events
The Events Committee of the Wilson County Democratic Party plans events that are hosted by the party and coordinates WCDP participation in community events.
The Events Committee
Identifies events that the WCDP wishes to participate in and / or support in some fashion
Maintains a master calendar / schedule of events
Recruits a chair for each of the events which WCDP wishes to participate in or support
Collects regular updates from event chairs on status of their event(s)
Volunteers will assist by helping identify and plan participation in Wilson County community events, assisting with regular WCDP public meetings, and assisting with planning and executing other WCDP events. Volunteer commitments will typically be event specific.
Fundraising
The mission of the Wilson County Democratic
Party Fundraising Committee is to be an advocate for Democratic participation by mobilizing financial resources that ensure a visible presence in our community while supporting candidates, initiatives, and policies that align with our shared values.
Through ethical, transparent, and strategic fundraising efforts, we aim to empower our community and champion meaningful change, ensuring the voices of our allies are heard and represented.
A few of the specific ways volunteers might help with this committee include brainstorming creative ideas for raising funds, assisting with planning and carrying out fundraising events, and building relationships with relevant community members.
Legislative
The primary purpose of the Legislative Committee is to analyze and track legislative and policy information from various sources (Tennessee State Legislature, Wilson County Commission, and Wilson County/LSSD School Boards) and communicate this information to Wilson County residents and party members in a way that is easy to understand.
The Legislative Committee is also responsible for providing training to party members and to the community regarding the legislative process, helping connect party members and community members with their state and local representatives, and providing summarized information to the social media team/communications team.
Volunteers might attend legislative meetings virtually or in person to obtain information to be communicated to the committee and help plan legislative action activities.
Recruitment and Vetting
The mission of the Recruitment and Vetting Committee is to ensure the selection of members and candidates who exemplify integrity, competence, and alignment with the core values and objectives of the Wilson County Democratic Party.
Through rigorous evaluation and transparent processes, we aim to identify individuals who are committed to serving the public interest and who reflect the priorities of the Wilson County Democratic Party.
Participants in this committee might help identify and build relationships with candidates to seek leadership positions within WCDP and/or run for elected office.
Volunteer Outreach and Coordination
The mission of Volunteer Outreach and Coordination is to identify and integrate volunteers and new members into the Wilson County Democratic Party.
Specific tasks members of this committee may help with include planning regular volunteer projects, orientation of new volunteers/members and maintaining relationships with existing volunteers, sending volunteer newsletter emails, conducting public volunteer meetings, recruiting volunteers for committees and events, developing a volunteer list/database, and assisting with voter outreach.
Voter Outreach
The Wilson County Democratic Party Voter Outreach Committee’s primary purpose is to reach voters, and potential voters, to provide information about elections and Democratic candidates.
We shall coordinate efforts to engage the electorate of Wilson County, including programs to encourage voter registration. We shall aid voter turnout by creating a coordinated field campaign to share resources to effectively and efficiently reach more voters through a variety of means, including standard canvassing activities.
Volunteers help with compiling and analyzing data to target voter outreach efforts and can also assist with planning and conducting voter outreach projects.
